re-finish hardwood floors (sanding, staining and coating) in St. Louis, MO
Steve, the owner, called back to set up an appointment in 2 hours after we called. He came, did the measurements and gave us his bid. The final price was adjusted down a little because we had to hire people to move furniture out of every room to be worked on (and later move furniture back). We have been in the process to sell our house. Steve was flexible enough to put our house on priority list and they started the project within few days after we agreed on the final price. They did a good job. My wife and I are happy with their work. The people came to do the job were nice. We particularly like the attitude of Charlie (the lead man). He really cares about customer’s satisfaction.
Hardwood Floors Refinishing in St. Louis, MO
They did a very nice job. They didn’t leave any mess. The floors look gorgeous! There was another gentleman doing tile work in my kitchen, and he also re-does floors, and he didn’t think the work would turn out that good. He also said they did a really good job! I also used them 20 years ago, and they have just gotten better since then.

Floors and Steps Sanding and Staining in St. Louis, MO
I used the services of Professional Floors of St. Louis about six weeks ago. They sanded and stained my hardwood floors and steps. I thought that they did a good job and their price was reasonable. They also had good reviews online. Everything went very well.
Red Oak Flooring in Eureka, MO
Professional Floors installed approx. 475 sq. ft. of red oak flooring in my family room, 2 hallways and 4 closets. They had to remove the existing top layer of 3/4″ plywood first, and then begin laying the 2 1/4″ wide flooring. After sanding 3 times and a final screening/buffing, they applied a coat of sealer/stain. The color match was not perfect, but I knew that trying to match an existing wood floor on 3 sides was going to be difficult. After the floor had sufficiently dried, the molding was nailed back. I had removed the corner round myself, pulled the nails, drew a sketch and numbered each piece. This helped the installation and removal time.
I negotiated the price down to beat a compeditor’s price. Steve Simpson, the owner, worked with me on the price and I think the price was fair.
The job went a little longer than estimated. Original estimate at 5 days, but took about 6 days, with 2 partial days for polyurethane. The workers used vacuums which helped on the dust. They also sealed the openings to the rooms involved. The installers worked hard and were very knowledgeable and friendly.
Hardwood floors installation in O’Fallon, MO
This job looks fantastic! The sales person was very professional and attentive – he brought samples for us to view and answered all of our questions. We scheduled the job while we were out of town and overall the job went well. We discovered some items that needed attending to once we returned, in addition to a very dirty floor. The company sent a representative to review the situation and quickly remedied the issues. They were small issues but I feel if we had been at home they would have been taken care of the first time.
Oak Hardwood floor refinishing in Chesterfield, MO
They came out and quoted the work right away. We awarded them the job, They were very professional, started on the estimated date he gave me in the beginning, finished the work promised in 4 days. They cleaned up their mess, did everything they said they would. Price was very competitive with others I had quoted.
These were 60 year old Oak hardward floors. They did a great job, I have been telling everyone.
Everyone that sees them can’t believe how nice they look. They look brand new. We are very pleased. Thinking about doing our floors at our other house
Hardwood Floor in our office in Saint Charles, MO
Overall, everything was fabulous. They were extremely professional. After the work was completed, I found one board that wasn’t quite matching up. After I brought that to their attention, they fixed it immediately. The price was $1000 less than another company would have charged me. They’re nice people and you can tell they’re there to please. They aren’t pushy at all. We will use them again if we ever need it in the future.
Sanding, Staining, and Sealing in Saint Peters, MO
The job went well. Whole job took three days. We were walking on it on the 4th day. Furniture was starting to move back on the 5th day. 1st day was the bulk sanding. Took about 6 hours. Second day was the edge sanding and fine sanding. Then staining. This took about 3 hours. 3rd day was the final two coats of poly, water based. This took about 3 hours. Workers failed to tell us that covering everything with plastic would have helped tons on the clean up. A week later we are still finding saw dust on things. Workers also seemed rushed to leave once they finished for the day. Floor looks good, I was expecting a higher gloss finish than we got. I was never asked about my preference for this. Stain options were good, they listened to my wants for the room and gave me a few good choices. Project manager was always available for my questions and concerns.
Floors Refinishing in Saint Charles, MO
In two 12′ X 13′ bedrooms and two closets, the carpet and tack strips were pulled up and hauled away. The floors were sanded, refinished and one coat of stain and two coats of polyurethane sealer were applied. Though the two finishes were well-matched, a thin threshold was installed in the doorway of each room to separate the room wood finish from the wood finish in the hallway. Quarter round was installed in one room.
The workmen worked at the promised times and the dust was well controlled and confined to the two rooms and the hallway just outside the rooms. At the completion of the work, the floors were left clean and all disposables were removed. We are very pleased with the appearance of the finished floors.
Oak Floor Refinishing in St. Louis, MO
I requested an estimate to refinish the oak floors in one bedroom, 13 stairs, a landing and a hallway in our 1930s house. When we bought the house 11 years ago these areas were all carpeted. The carpet installation had damaged the floor so it needed repair, and also, the house at some previous time, had settled and pulled away from the floor, leaving a gap between the oak floor and the wall. The scope of work was to mend the floors, repair the gap, sand, stain and finish, and install quarter round along all baseboards. The work included manual sanding around about 50 bannisters along the stair well. The total area was approximately 275 sf.
The company representative was punctual and very courteous and knowledgeable. He took measurements, explained the process in detail, and answered several questions I had. My impression was entirely in line with the reports on this company I’d read in Angie’s list. He gave me an estimate on the spot, on paper, and checked back with me a couple of days later in case I had any questions.
His estimate was the first one I got, and I had told him I was getting two more. During those several days, he called back to say another job was being postponed and he could therefore do our job within the next couple of weeks.
This company’s process was to sand the first day, stain the second day, and put the finish coat on the third day. We would not be able to walk on the floors the day the finish coat was applied, to allow it to dry. Although we were prepared for this likelihood, the reason we selected a different company was that we would be able to walk on the floors at the end of each day. When I called to tell him my decision I explained that I was happy with the estimate (it was the lowest of the three I received, but very close to the next price) and their service, but liked the process that did not keep us out of our bedrooms and bathrooms upstairs and was therefore going to use a different company.
Sand and Refinish hardwood flooring in St. Louis, MO
Scheduled our hardwood floors to be started and a few days before that date, Steve called as promised, to make sure everything was still a go. He explained the scheduling and what all needed to take place. Steve was very prompt and everything went according to what was planned. Two of Professional Floors team came out for two days to sand our floors and actually stained 5 different spots for a color selection. They were very nice and really wanted us to be happy with the color. Very Professional and really care!!! After we selected our color they sanded these areas back down. The last two days a different crew specializing in varnishing the floor came and applied the varnish. When they were getting ready to leave they explained how to keep the floors looking their best and if we noticed anything that wasn’t right, just call and it would be fixed. Our floors are PERFECT and next month I plan on having them refinish our Living Room floors as well. I couldn’t stop looking at my floors. In fact, some nights when I couldn’t sleep I’d just walk down and look at the floors again! Absolutely wonderful experience, very professional and they do what they say they are going to do and WHEN they said it would be done. Very rare in this day and age!
New Hardwood Floor in Valley Park, MO
They installed a new hardwood stair case over an existing staircase previously covered in carpet. Job included 28 stairs and two landings across two levels. They did a very good job and the stairs look great. They did take longer than expected ( the job was more complicated than at first it seemed). When they were finished there was one piece of molding that we weren’t completely happy with and they came back and fixed it with no problems. All of the workmen were very courteous and they did a very professional job. We would use them again with no reservations.
Hardwood floor refinishing and new floor installation in Ballwin, MO
The majority of our 65-year old home had been carpeted, so once we pulled up the carpeting, Professional Floors took up the tack strips and (millions of) staples, then sanded and refinished the existing hardwood floors and installed new quarter round on the first floor.
Terrific work and worth every penny. Steve was very responsive and was able to give us an estimate on the spot. We were fortunate in that another job they’d had previously had fallen through, so they could start work on our floors right away. The crews were on time, very courteous and did a great job. They were also knowledgeable and were able to give guidance on our stain choice and stair repair.
Hardwood Flooring in Ballwin, MO
We had our entire ranch home’s floors repaired and refinished. The reason we chose this firm is because in their literature it states “customer satisfaction is the utmost important aspect of our business.” The guys did a very good job weaving new wood into sections of the floor that needed repair. The floors overall were beautifully refinished. The place where these guys could improve is in the soft skills. There were some issues of the floors being completed later than promised; which were resolved once we called to ask. Once the floors were completed, there were some lap marks that needed to be buffed out and a threshold that was broken that they needed to replace. These issues were resolved quickly. If they resolved the issues, why would I say that they should work on their soft skills? I was treated rudely on the telephone by one of the lead guys and found the workers to be a bit surly when they were questioned about when they would be completing things. We decided to go without a stain – which worked in their favor because then the floors were able to be completed when they promised them. If we had chosen to stain the floors it would have put them behind. When we were testing the stains, the guys used a bucket full of black g*** to mix it in, which made me feel as though they were not giving us accurate pictures of what the stain would really look like. They also were supposed to tape off the kitchen and really did a terrible job with it and when I asked them to re-tape it, they sanded the floors with the plastic only taped at the top of the kitchen ceiling – so we had a ton of dust in the kitchen, that really could have easily been prevented.Would I consider using them again? Yes. The quality of the work was outstanding. Would I be a little reluctant? Yes, when spending $4000 on anything I expect a whole heck of a lot – including some of the finer points of customer service. I also expect perfect workmanship, which doesn’t include lap marks. Davis, the original person we talked with, did an excellent job of keeping us happy, but unfortunately, he wasn’t the only person we were dealing with. If you are a perfectionist like I am – you will be pleased with the workmanship – but possibly not happy with the timelines and with the level of customer service.
Sand-refinish oak hardwood floors in Fenton, MO
Very pleased with customer service. Punctual, explained process. The floor had pet stains (severe); could not get all out but floors looked so much better. Cleaned up after each step. Reasonable price!
Wood floors refinishing in St. Louis, MO
Overall, we love Steve (the owner) and his lead guy (Levi). They have been wonderful to deal with, very accommodating and extremely knowledgeable about their craft. We called the company and made an appointment to meet with Steve at our new house. Basically there were a few rooms that were carpeted but the rest was wood. He took a look and recommended that we refinish all the floors to make them all look gorgeous. His price was very reasonable and he is so nice and easy to deal with. So far, the floors look awesome and I know they will be gorgeous when they are all finished. I can’t wait!!
Hardwood Flooring in St. Louis, MO
Great, terrific. Steve kept in contact with us, even though we were out of town, and answered all of our questions. There really was no concern, as they did exactly as promised. My son, who has a critical eye, was very pleased with the quality of the work and sent us pictures of the floors. Professional job start to finish!
New wood floor in the kitchen in St. Louis, MO
This is an excellent company that I have used before, and I am delighted with the work they have done. Steve is so professional and helpful. He has training as a forester and knows his material. I also talked with another company recommended by an architect, but this one won on all counts: accommodation, friendliness and value. Steve was able to get wood specially milled to be consistent with other wood in the house, which I was told could not be done by the other company, AND his price was better than the other estimate with less preferable wood. The guys who laid the floor are really nice and they did a super job. Highly recommend
Sanded, stained and double polyurethaned wood floors in St. Louis, MO
Refinished existing hardwoord floors and installed new flooring in Maryland Heights, MO
Steve makes a great first impression for his business. He is on time, knowledgeable, detailed and very friendly. He even had us over to his own home to see an example of the flooring we wanted. I met 4 of his employees during this 2 week process and they were all very courteous and did a great job. The floors turned out beautifully and there was very little dust leftover.
I would not hesitate to use them again.
Hardwood floor refinishing in St. Louis, MO
I purchased a deal for hardwood floor refinishing. The intent was to have our foyer, a hallway, and a bedroom refinished. When Steve came out to give us the estimate, we discussed the need to have our family room and dining room floors refinished as well. We planned on doing it in the next year before we put our house on the market, and he told me that we really didn’t want to go through the process twice. He also gave us a discount for doing both jobs at once, so we agreed. I am so glad we listened to him! Unfortunately, due to the layout of our house, we had to move out for a few days, and because we had some asbestos mastic that we could not remove quickly, the hallway could not be refinished, but we are so happy with the results. We have pine floors, and although we thought we wanted a darker finish, both Steve and the workers recommended a natural finish. They turned out beautiful! Steve was in constant contact, and I would recommend Professional Floors over and over!

Replaced hardwood floors
Refinished and stained entire first floor in Chesterfield, MO
The floors look brand new after the job was completed and completely updated the look of our house. The owner and all of the carpenters were very professional and punctual. They stuck to the schedule they advised to us early on.
While Steve warned there would be clean up and touch up required to the base-boards and cabinets from the stain, the amount of stain on the base-boards and cabinets seems excessive and very much sloppy in a lot of places. There are places on the base-boards that have stain that goes up as high as the top of the 3 1/2 inch base-board. With the amount of clean up required I wish I would have removed all base-boards prior to having the floors refinished because at this point the baseboards will probably need to be replaced altogether.
If the floors did not look as good as they do, our grade would be a C due to the baseboards. I do give Steve credit for warning us re the baseboards but from other reviews from other contractors the amount of clean up necessary is too excessive.
I updated our overall grade to an A after discussing the baseboard issue mentioned above to other people who’ve recently had same services performed and all said the baseboard clean up and touch up should have been expected. So based on the look of our floors and service given by Steve and his carpenters I give them an A and would recommend to anyone looking for this work to be completed.
Floor Stains in Valley Park, MO
Excellent job. Approx 600+ sq feet. They did a great job, communicated issues and floor concerns, and helped me make a good decision. They laid out samples for me to look at on the floor, and in my situation was on some spots that had past stains. The darker color hid them extremely well. They were friendly and professional. If my next house needs any flooring work I will give them a call again. One thing people need to do is be realistic about flooring. I think too often they think the imaginary side of how it is. It is good idea to educate ones self on flooring and to prep accordingly, and to be prepared to let floors cure afterwards. I had a great experience here.

I was so pleased to get our floors sanded and resealed. When my brother-in-law decided to do-it-himself the wood turned out all wavy because he really did not know what he was doing. Now they have to tear out their old floors and reinstall all new hardwood. It will end up costing them 3x what it would have had they used Professional Floors of Saint Louis. Thanks again for a professional and timely install.
